VCON 42 / Canvention 38

October 5-7, 2018

VCON is the oldest volunteer-run general-interest science fiction, fantasy and gaming convention in Canada and the Pacific Northwest. The convention has promoted the interests of science fiction and fantasy culture in the metro Vancouver BC area since 1971, offering events, exhibits, presentations, discussions and workshops focused on a variety of Science Fiction and Fantasy fandom interest areas such as literature, art, media, music, costumes, comics, tabletop games, electronic games, etc. VCON's program is wide-ranging and inclusive of all fantastical and speculative fiction genres including hard science, high fantasy, anime, horror, alternate history or paranormal romance. New genres in new mediums have emerged constantly since 1971, and VCON embraces and promotes them all. For more information about VCON, please visit www.vcon.ca.

Canvention is the Canadian national science fiction & fantasy convention sponsored by the Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Association (CSFFA). Every year Canvention is hosted by a different convention somewhere in Canada; in 2018 Canvention 38 will be held in conjunction with VCON 42. It is the event where the Aurora Awards and inductees into the Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame are announced both of which recognize the best in Canadian science fiction and fantasy literary works, artworks, and organizational activities. Eligible works and individuals are nominated and winners are chosen by CSFFA members (annual membership is open to all Canadian citizens and permanent residents). For more information about the Aurora Awards, please visit www.prixaurorawards.ca.
