Law Enforcement only class. This is a fast-paced, very mentally demanding course. You must have at least some experience wearing NVGs; this should not be your very first time. This class is designed to increase officer survivability, decrease liability for your agency, and make you better on the ground in nighttime environments. Learn through hands-on practical application: -Capabilities of Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) and rifle-mounted laser/illumator -Monocular vs. binocular NVGs: field of view, peripheral vision, depth perception, etc -Area searches, both individual and with multiple officers/teams, ambient lighting considerations -Positive ID of suspects: distances and limitations -"Zen and The Art of The Laser Pointer/Illuminator": -Mounting on the rifle, and zeroing procedures using co-witness to the day optic -Settings, “Knob-ology”, and Adjustments -Power settings, on/off button activation, field of view limitations, beam size of illuminator -Day 1 is classroom lecture -Day 2 and 3 are movement over ground, live fire drills, and live fire and movement together, operational concerns

2-Day Improved Pistol: Feb 27-28 2021 | Sonoma County

This is a focused course: basic fundamentals and proper execution of mechanics, across all facets of pistol shooting. Two days of detail-oriented, high-level instruction intended to build your foundation, properly. Fix your bad habits; learn how to train yourself to shoot, not just burn through your valued ammo with nothing to show for your efforts. We will show you how to hold yourself accountable for all your shots and learn to improve your performance. Main topics: - Stance: your foundation must be correct, for you - Grip: build your grip from the beginning for consistency of shots and recoil control - Sight alignment and sight picture: sights on and aligned makes for accurate shooting every time - Trigger squeeze: consistent, straight-back trigger engagement ensures bullets go where you want them - Safe and efficient loading and unloading sequence that works day or night - Proper magazine changes, broken down step-by-step - Considerations for pistol defense in the home or workplace - Discussion of pistol choice and bullet selection for your caliber Ammo requirement: 600 rounds total; 300 each day Training from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm each day Gear requirement: 1- Holster must be OWB-type -- this is not a CCW course 2- Bring at least 3 magazines, 5 is better 3- Magazine pouches to hold at least 2 magazines 4- Enhanced hearing muffs are advised (with sound enhancement and dB cut-off to protect hearing) 4- Safety glasses 5- Water and snacks. Please bring your lunch.
