A team consists of 20 paddlers and one drummer. A professional steer person will be assigned to each team. Divisions include: Community, Club and Competitive Club.

About 2019 Worcester Dragon Boat Festival

Telegram & Gazette is proud to host the 3rd annual Worcester Dragon Boat Festival sponsored by Fallon Health at DCR Regatta Point and Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday, September 21, 2019.  Portion of proceeds will benefit the United Way of Central Mass. The event starts at 8:00am. This event is great for businesses looking for team building, family, friends and community groups looking for a good time! It includes dragon boat races for amateurs and club teams, performances, food, music, activities for kids & much more. 

Which division are you?

Division 1: Competitive Dragon Boat Club Team
A competitive club team is defined as any crew that regularly practices and races together, and meets the IDBF definition as a club. All members of the club must reside close enough to practice regularly with the club and hold membership with the club for at least six months prior to the event. ACS teams may have their own heat with in this division.

Division 2: Dragon Boat Club Team
A club team is defined as members having practiced more than one hour in a dragon boat but have been together for less than 6 months and does not qualify for the IDBF definition as a club.

Division 3: Community Team
Community teams are organized just for this festival do not meet the IDBF definition of club standards, and will only practice for the one hour offered as part of the 2019 Worcester Dragon Boat Festival.
